3 Planes of Movement
Sagittal Plane
Divides the body into left and right halves. Movement occurs forward and backward, such as flexion and extension. Examples include squats, lunges, and bicep curls.
Frontal Plane
Divides the body into front and back halves. Movement occurs side-to-side, involving abduction and adduction. Examples include jumping jacks and lateral raises.
Transverse Plane
Divides the body into top and bottom halves. Movement involves rotation. Examples include internal/external rotation and spinal twists.
Understanding these three planes is essential for developing a balanced fitness routine that mimics the full range of human movement.
